February is the month for love and appreciation. Here are some dates to remember for this month:
• 6th - Pay a compliment day, Nothing cheers a person up quite like hearing someone say something nice about you.
• 14th - Valentines Day, St Valentine's Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration.
• 17th - Random acts of kindness day, is a day to celebrate and encourage random acts of kindness.
• 20th - Love your pet day, this day focuses on giving extra attention to our pets. Show us your pets by uploading a pic and using the hashtag #spidesignpets on Instagram!
2022 is a year of the Water-Tiger. It starts on February 1st, 2022, and ends on January 21st, 2023. A Water Tiger year occurs every 60 years.
The Tiger is known as the king of all beasts in China. The zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness. Many Chinese kids wear hats or shoes with a tiger image for good luck.
Sam - My Mum
Someone I look up to is my mum.
My mum has suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis since she was in her teens, she has gotten worse and worse over the years, had multiple operations (when I mean multiple, I mean she basically lives in the operating theatre haha!) including two new knees (which she had done at the same time and two new shoulders, she also has to take lots of medication daily.
I reckon well I know that she is the strongest person I know.
If you meet her she will never make a fuss or complain that she is in pain, the only way you'd know she has Rheumatoid all over her body is because she's a slowcoach and walks with a stick, haha!!
She always tries to do things independently although, it is extremely hard for her to do.
She is INCREDIBLE!
Kelly - Martin Lewis
Having a business background I look up to Martin Lewis due to all the help he gives to individuals and businesses.
He is so passionate about helping people with financial issues and problems, earning him an OBE in 2014 and a CBE this year.
He has campaigned against bank charges, energy bills, student finance and helped many with mental health due to debt. He is very passionate about what he does and always likes to ensure he has a solution to help people. Just the other day, when he couldn't help someone, he was visibly frustrated and upset.
As a previous business studies teacher, I understand the importance of educating children in how to manage money, for which he developed a free curriculum-based book/materials for teachers to use in school to deliver/teach the necessary skills to students for them to use in adulthood.
Sharon - Katerina Johnson Thomson
My inspirational person is Katerina Johnson Thomson or KJT for short.
For those who don’t know who she is a World Champion Heptathlete. A Heptathlete competes in 5 events 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m sprint, long jump, javelin throw and the final event is an 800m run.
KJT first came to my attention in 2012 at our home Olympics. I was sitting in the stadium on August 4th excitement and nerves building waiting for forJess Ennis Hill to come out and compete in the 800m she was on fire and almost certain to become Olympic champion! But there was also another Brit to cheer on KJT only 19 at the time in her 1st ever Olympics finished in 15th place.
From that day I have followed her career and cheered from afar or from the couch!
